   Holiday Park

The Public Inquiry into the proposed holiday park has rejected the appeal - so that the proposed development will not be allowed and the original decision by the Borough Council has been upheld.
The full text of the Inspectors Report is available here.
It is possible that some variation of the plan may be resubmitted and all those who oppose this development should be aware that the fight to maintain the environment may not yet be over.

Election to new unitary
Cllrs David Brown and  John Robinson have been elected as our members on the new unitary authority which is replacing Sedgefield Borough and Durham County Councils in April 2009.  Both are currently Members of both Sedgefield Town Council and Sedgefield Borough - John being the last mayor of Sedgefield Borough.

New Mayor

The Town Council held their annual meeting on May 19th when Councillor Tim Jeanes  was elected as the 22nd Mayor of  Sedgefield.
Tim's selected charities are prostate cancer and local groups, and his charity fund raising events include the annual quiz at Ceddesfeld Hall and the dinner and dance at Hardwick Hall in March. However one of the first events will be a dance in the Parish Hall in celebration of the opening of the newly refurbished Hall on Sept 12th
Tim seen here with his wife and consort  Anne are hoping to raise as much money as possible over the next year as well as representing Sedgefield throughout the area.

Sedgefield Together

Local government changes mean that Sedgefield Borough Council will not exist after March 2009 and will be a large divide between the local services provided at town / parish level and those provided by the unitary council.  Proposals for the future include 'area action partnerships' and the town council are looking to coordinate our own 'partnership'. A more detailed letter and a response form are available here.  All those with an interest in this partnership are invited to respond.
